IND vs WI: 3 Indian Players Who Will Have A Last Chance To Retain Their Spot In T20I Squad
3. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravichandran Ashwin is the first player on this list. Ashwin is a regular player in the Test format for India. However, the right-arm spinner made an entry in T20I during ICC T20 World Cup 2021 after a gap of two years. He also played IND vs NZ T20I series thereafter. However, Ashwin has not managed to impress with his performances in the limited-overs setup.
With spinners like Jayant Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakravarthy in queue, Ashwin needs to prove his skills in the shortest format to retain his spot in the squad. Moreover, Ravichandran Ashwin is picked as an all-rounder in the squad so he has to showcase his talent with both bat and ball. During IND vs WI T20I series, Ashwin’s performance will be in selectors’ focus.
2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is another player on this list. Since IPL 2021, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s form has slumped. He did not impress with his bowling show in IND vs NZ T20I series and IND vs SA ODI series recently. After the right-arm pacer went wicketless in both the opening ODIs against South Africa, he was dropped from the 3rd game.
Deepak Chahar has highly impressed as a pacer and can be a good choice of replacement for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Criticisms have started to surround Bhuvi after his continuous failure with the pace attack. Now, he needs to showcase an impressive form against West Indies or he might lose his spot in the shortest format.

1. Venkatesh Iyer
Venkatesh Iyer is the third player on this list. Due to Hardik Pandya’s fitness issues to bowl, Iyer has been given a chance in the national squad since November last year. However, he has not been able to play with the same intensity that he showed in IPL 2021. The left-handed batsman totally failed to give good support to the team in IND vs SA ODI series.
Now, Iyer might get another chance in IND vs WI T20I series but he needs to pull up his socks. If Venkatesh Iyer fails to perform, selectors might opt to go for some other all-rounder or think to bring back Hardik Pandya on the national side.
