Pacer Prasidh Krishna won the ‘Player of the Match’ award in the second One Day International match of the three-match ODI series between India National Cricket Team and West Indies National Cricket Team at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 9.

Nicholas Pooran, who was leading the West Indies in the absence of Kieron Pollard, won the toss and invited Rohit Sharma and co. to bat first. Surprisingly, Rishabh Pant opened the innings with Rohit Sharma but the openers failed to contribute big runs. Middle-order batters KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar contributed good runs and helped India post 237 runs on the board.

Defending the target Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna dismantled the Windies top-order by dismissing Brandon King, Darren Bravo and Nicholas Pooran. Deepak Hooda got his maiden ODI by wicket by dismissing set batsman Shamarh Brooks.

In the end, Odean Smith showed some good power-hitting skills in the lower order but it was enough to get West Indies past the finish line. West Indies lost the second ODI by 44 runs and they are down 0-2 in the three-match series.

Prasidh Krishna was sensational in the second One Day International as in his 9 overs quota he picked 4 wickets at an economy of 1.33 and he gave away just 12 runs. Also, he bowled a whopping 45 dots out of 54 balls and he conceded just 1 boundary.

During the post-match presentation, Prasidh Krishna said that he has been striving hard to deliver remarkable performance for India. He added that he kept things simple and bowled in good areas. Also, he said that he would have laughed it off if someone told him he would end up with 9-3-12-4 bowling figures. He said:

“ I have been striving hard to do this for a long time. So, I am very happy that we won. I was still looking to hit the good areas. When I came in to bat, I knew it was still seaming. I would have laughed it off (If someone would have told him he would finish with the figures he ended with today).”

Pacer Krishna added that white-ball cricket is a power game and he stuck to good lines and tried to be consistent. He said:

“ I had seen the wicket in the last game. Experimenting wasn’t possible as there was not much to defend. So, I stuck to good lines. I want to be as consistent as possible. The white-ball cricket is a power game.”
