IND vs WI: Ruturaj Gaikwad Recovers From Covid-19, Available For Selection In Final ODI
Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has finished his isolation period and will be available for selection in the final ODI of the 3-match series against West Indies on Friday.
Ruturaj had tested positive along with six other members and was asked to go into quarantine. He has tested negative and can join the squad. However, he may not be in the fray to make it to the playing XI.
Rohit Sharma has already stated that Shikhar Dhawan will be coming into the side for the final game. Dhawan was also one of the players who tested positive.
Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant were tried in the opening slot alongside Rohit but neither of them had an impactful knock. Dhawan will be the third different opening partner for Rohit in this series.
Ruturaj Gaikwad likely to return to Ranji Trophy after ODI series
Unfortunately for Gaikwad, he might have to warm the bench in the final game. He hasn’t been added to the T20I squad and in all likelihood will return to the Maharashtra squad for the Ranji Trophy.
Gaikwad was in tremendous form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring four massive hundreds in five matches. Although his team didn’t qualify for the knockout stages, he ended up as the tournament’s high scorer.
India has won the first two games of the series and will go into the Friday game with an eye on whitewashing the West Indies team.
