After winning the first two matches, Pakistan would look to register their third consecutive win when they meet West Indies in the third and final T20 international on Thursday at National Stadium in Karachi. Pakistan have exhibited great team effort in the series.

They have been brilliant with the bat and ball. Despite Babar Azam undergoing poor form, the Men in Green have managed to post competitive totals on the board.

The Pakistan skipper, once again, got out cheaply in the last game after getting run out in the third over. Fakhar Zaman (10 off 5) followed him soon after to leave Pakistan in trouble at 38 for 2. Mohammad Rizwan (38 off 30) and Haider Ali (31 off 34) then stitched a partnership and led a decent recovery.

The duo set the platform for the middle-order batsmen and the likes of Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan capitalized on that wonderfully. The former scored 32 off just 19, while Shadab Khan later played a crucial 12-ball 28 to take Pakistan to a competitive score of 172 runs in the first innings.

West Indies needed a good start to chase down the total. However, they didn’t get one as the first two wickets fell inside first four overs. Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King then added 54 runs for the third wicket to lead West Indies recovery. Pakistan needed a wicket to break the crucial partnership and M Nawaz came to their rescue. He sent Nicholas Pooran (26 off 26) back to the hut as the latter, once again, failed to convert the start into a big score.

Pakistan kept taking wickets at regular intervals after that but Brandon King held firm at one end. He played a sensational 67-run knock off 43 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. The West Indies opener, however, couldn’t take his team home as he got out in the 16th over. Romario Shepherd later scored an unbeaten 19-ball 35 but West Indies still fell 9 runs short of the target.

Ahead of the last match of the T20 series, Nicholas Pooran and Boys would be keen to win their first match of the tour.
