Asia Cup 2022: We Were In Search Of A Left-arm Bowler, Who We Have Found In Arshdeep Singh – Kiran More

Former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman and selector Kiran More has said that Team India’s search for a reliable left-arm pacer has ended as they found a brilliant left-arm pacer in Arshdeep Singh.

On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s squad for the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup and Arshdeep Singh was selected in the squad along with pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Avesh Khan.

Arshdeep recently got his India call-up on the back of his consistent performances for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the recently concluded five-match T20I series between India and West Indies, where Men In Blue won by 4-1, Arshdeep won the Player of the Series award.

Meanwhile, former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman and selector More showered praise on the 23-year-old left-arm pacer and said that he is pleased to see Arshdeep’s inclusion in India’s Asia Cup 2022 squad.

“I’m also happy for Arshdeep Singh (for his Asia Cup selection). He has been performing well in the IPL, against the West Indies, where he was the Player of the Series and bowled well. We were in search of a left-arm bowler, who we have found in Arshdeep Singh,” More said on Star Sports show Follow The Blues.

The 59-year-old said that the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup is going to be very special for Virat Kohli, who has been going through a lean patch.

“This will definitely be special for Virat Kohli since he now needs to make a comeback, it’s been too many innings,” he said.

Ha added that overall India squad looks pretty strong and well-balanced. Kiran More was also pleased to see leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi’s inclusion in the squad.

“The other batsmen also have been performing really well. Overall, the squad looks good, well balanced. There are good all-rounders too – R Ashwin has been batting well. Definitely, Axar Patel has been performing well through the year too,” he added.

“I like the team combination and I was really happy with Ravi Bishnoi’s selection. It brought a variation to the team. According to me, this is a good team,” he said.
