Hardik Pandya Soars Upwards In Latest Update Of ICC T20I Players Rankings After Heroics In Asia Cup 2022 Against Pakistan

India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has seen his stock rise in the latest update of the ICC T20I rankings thanks to his all-rounder showing in the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan on Sunday, August 29, 2022, which was played in Dubai’s Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

India won the said encounter by 5 wickets with Hardik Pandya winning the Player of the Match award for his all-round showing with both the bat and the ball. Pakistan was invited to bat first after Rohit Sharma won the toss and were restricted to 147 inside 20 overs. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar registered figures of 4/26, Hardik Pandya delivered telling blows with figures of 3/25 in his 4 overs.

Then in the chase, India was in a tough spot at 89/4 in 14 overs. After this Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya got together to add 52 runs for the fifth wicket to bring India back into the game. Jadeja got out for 35 runs in the last over, but Pandya held his own and hit a six to win the match for India.

Hardik Pandya Moves To 5th Spot In ICC T20I All-Rounders Rankings

Thanks to his performance, Hardik Pandya jump eight places on the T20I all-rounder rankings, up to the fifth position, his highest-ever spot.

On the other hand, Afghanistan players also went unnoticed with them being rewarded for their performances in the Asia Cup tournament. Rashid Khan moved to the 3rd spot in the ICC T20I bowling rankings over fellow leg-spinners Adil Rashid and Adam Zampa. Tabraiz Shamsi (716) and Josh Hazlewood (792) are above him in the rankings.

His teammate Mujeeb Ur Rahman entered the top ten with a seven-spot move up the rankings (660). India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar is at the 8th spot thanks to his four-wicket haul against Pakistan.

The T20I batting rankings saw Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, moving up to second (796) to join Babar Azam (810) in the top two. Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai’s innings of 23 (26) and 37 (28) led to a three-spot rise to 14th (611).
