Sunil Gavaskar, a legendary batsman, believed that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could have chosen their shots more carefully during India’s match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022.

India lost the early wicket of KL Rahul after being challenged to chase down 148, but they recovered with Rohit and Virat’s 49-run partnership for the second wicket.

The left-arm Mohammad Nawaz, though, knocked out both batsmen as they attempted to hit booming blows down the ground. After eliminating the pillars of the Indian batting order, Nawaz was actually on a hat-trick. The Men in Blue were reduced to 53 for three in a span of eight balls after starting at 50 for one after 7.5 overs.

Gavaskar believed that Kohli should have capitalized on his good fortune and earned a high score. When Naseem Shah dropped Kohli in the slips early on, it provided him with a lifeline. After that, despite scoring six runs, he was caught off guard by a bouncer from Haris Rauf.

Rohit and Kohli had the opportunity to bat for some time: Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar, a legendary batsman, believed that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma could have chosen their shots more carefully.

“Rahul only played one ball, therefore you can not draw any conclusions from that.” When Rohit and Kohli were allowed to bat, they scored runs. When people were talking about Kohli’s form earlier, I kept stating that he was not having any luck.”

“He had a lot of luck today, drop catches, many inside edges that went so near to the stumps.” “But he did capitalize on it and hit some pretty good strokes,” Sunil Gavaskar told India Today.

“However, with his start, he should have finished in the 60s or 70s.” He left as soon as Rohit did. They both took forgettable shots. Those shots were unnecessary at the time since the asking rate was not 19 or 20 for them to attempt sixes,” Sunil Gavaskar explained.

After Rohit and Virat were dismissed, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja led India to a five-wicket victory at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
