Indian Cricket Team have been virtually knocked out of Asia Cup 2022 after their humiliating loss against Sri Lanka. The Island Nation made a statement that they are not here just to participate in the tourney. Cheteshwar Pujara feels that the management needs to find a way to score quickly in the middle-overs phase. The Men in Blue have got a wake-up call as now they would be back to the drawing board.

Virat Kohli, who had got back into the form against Pakistan matches was clean bowled by the youngster Madushanka. There was an early setback as once again the top-order struggled to find the rhythm. The management should have some serious talks with KL Rahul as he is not performing to his talent; he looks in two minds and in doing so he is wasting priceless deliveries.

I think it is the middle overs. Overs between 6 to 15 and we’re not finishing as well. Because we’re losing too many wickets in the middle overs, we don’t have proper batters batting from 15 to 20 overs. So I think we need to figure that out,” The Indian Test Batter was seen sharing his views on ESPNCricinfo.

“I think we need to learn to bat well in those 6 to 15 overs. Today, we didn’t start well, lost a couple of wickets early on. But if you look at the last game against Pakistan, we got off to a good start but we still kept on losing wickets from 6 to 15. In the last five overs, we can’t go hard because we are always five down. So it’s the middle overs where we will have to work a bit more on our batting,” Cheteshwar Pujara concluded.

Not A Strong Finish in the Death Overs

India’s score at the end of 15 overs was 127-4 as they had Hardik Pandya & Rishabh Pant present at the crease. The duo was expected to take the score close to 190 as scoring 60 odd runs is not a big deal in this modern era where the batters play funky shots. Hardik had got a promotion and had ample deliveries to unleash the attack against the opposition.

Both batters should have waited for loose deliveries rather than going berserk. India managed a below-par 173-8 score where the Lankan batters had an upper advantage. Indian Cricket Team would be feeling the pain of not getting big runs at the back end as this has happened for the 2nd time(The first one was against Pakistan in the Super 4 stage).
