BCCI has announced the Indian squad for Asia Cup 2022 and Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the tournament. Asia Cup 2022 will commence on August 27 in UAE. India will play their opening game of the tournament against Pakistan on August 28.

For India, players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Dinesh Karthik will handle the batting department. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the pace attack with youngsters like Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan. Spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi will also hold great importance for the team.

Asia Cup 2022 will be played in the T20I format, however, the next edition of the tournament will be an ODI format. Pakistan is the host for the next edition of the Asia Cup, which will be played next year in 2023. Some players who are part of the Aisa Cup 2022 might not be part of the next year’s edition. Dinesh Karthik is the first player on this list. After an impressive performance in IPL 2022, Karthik made a comeback to the national side in T20Is with the role of a finisher. He has also played a few crucial knocks in the previous T20I series. Hence, he was picked for Asia Cup 2022.

However, Karthik will not be part of the next year’s tournament. Karthik only plays in the T20Is for India and never gets a chance in the other formats. Since the next edition of the Asia Cup will be a 50-over format, Karthik will be absent from the squad.
