The India vs Pakistan match in Asia Cup 2022 will be played in Dubai on August 28. India and Pakistan are placed in group A along with the qualifying team. Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are placed in group B.

Both the boards have announced the squads. Both teams have named formidable squads with senior players back in the side. Babar Azam will lead Pakistan and Rohit Sharma will lead India. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are back in the Indian side. Pakistan has also included Shaheen Afridi in the side who rocked India in the T20 World Cup last year.

The BCCI has chosen a 15-member Indian team keeping in mind that a similar squad will be chosen for the T20 World Cup 2022 as well. Their performance in this Asia Cup will matter and be a key reason behind their selection for the world event.

While a few of them are guaranteed selections in the XI for the match against Pakistan, there are question marks in the selection of a few others. In this article, we take a look at three-star Indian players who might not play the match against Pakistan.

India vs Pakistan: 3 Star Indian Players Who Might Have To Warm The Bench In Asia Cup 2022 Match

1) Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin might have to sit out for the IND vs PAK clash. With Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal selected as specialist spinners, Ashwin might find it difficult to get into the XI as the third spinner. India might field five specialist bowlers in the game with Hardik Pandya as the sixth bowling option. Ashwin was a part of India’s T20I squad for the series against the West Indies. He was short with his length and was expensive as well in the series.

2) Deepak Hooda

With India’s top three almost sorted, Deepak Hooda might not feature in the Xi as Surykumar Yadav might just edge him at that number. The rest of the Indian batting line-up looks sorted as well. SKY’s ability to play 360 degrees might fetch him the vote against Hooda. That India already has six bowling options might also work against the middle-order batter to get a place in the XI.

3) Avesh Khan

Avesh bowled brilliantly in the series against West Indies but he was not as good as Arshdeep Singh. Only three pacers have been selected in the squad with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh likely to be the lead pacers. Former Indian cricket experts were surprised over Avesh’s selection of the likes of Mohammed Shami and Mohammad Siraj in the squad.
