Afghanistan take on Sri Lanka in the first match of the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022. The side became the first team to make it to the Super 4’s after winning two back-to-back games. Sri Lanka became the second team from group B to make it to the Super 4s after beating Bangladesh by two wickets.
Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in their opening game and Bangladesh by seven wickets in their second game to make it through to the Super 4 stage. The side has shown real strength in chasing down totals after restricting the opposition bowling first.
They would like to play with the same plate in the Super 4 stage as they eye making it to their first-ever Asia Cup final. Speaking about their playing XI, they would like to play with the same side that won two back-to-back games.

Hazratullah Zazai
Zazai is their talismanic opener. He played a sheet anchor’s role in the first two games and his role is expected to remain the same in this Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (WK)
Gurbaz has been the aggressor at the top for Afghanistan. In the first two games, he scored 40 and 11 respectively. He needs to play a big inning against Sri Lanka.
Ibrahim Zadran
Zadrabn will bat at number three. He gives them a solid option at number three who can carry on the innings deep for the likes of Nabi and Najib to finish in the end overs.
Mohammad Nabi (C)
Nabi will bat at number four. So far he has used himself more with the ball than the bat. With many left-handers in the Lankan lineup, he will use himself within the powerplay.
Najibullah Zadran
Zadran scored an unbeaten 43 off 17 balls against Bangladesh to take the game away from them. He needs to play a similar sort of an innings against a re-energised Lankan side.
Karim Janat
Janat has not been used too much with bat and ball so far. However, he will retain his side in the Xi as they would not like to break a winning combination.
Rashid Khan
Rashid took 3 for 22 in the last match against Bangladesh. Rashid in the process has become the second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is only second after Shakib Al Hasan.
Azmatullah Omarzai
Omarzai also has not been used so much with the ball as he has not been needed. However, he retains his place and has a chance to prove himself in this case. He is a right-arm seamer who can bat a bit as well.
Naveen-ul-Haq
Naveen will be the second seamer in the playing XI against Sri Lanka. So far in this Asia Cup, he has been economical with the ball.
Fazalhaq Farooqi
Faroqi rocked Sri Lanka early n the first game of the tournament. He will fancy his chances in this game as well. so far he has taken three wickets in two games.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Mjueeb tops the wicket-takers list in the Asia Cup with five wickets from two games. He will pair up with Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi to form a formidable trio.
