You Have Got To Give Credit To Virat Kohli For Embracing The New Approach In T20Is: Sanjay Manjrekar

According to Sanjay Manjrekar, Virat Kohli should be praised for attempting to adopt India’s aggressive batting style during the T20I series against England.

In the T20Is against England, Kohli, who has recently struggled to score runs, sought to play aggressively from the get-go.

But the strategy did not work out for him because he was out in both of his innings cheaply.

Manjrekar was questioned about whether Indian fans should be happy or a little worried that Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Kohli are reuniting during an interview on the Sports 18 programme “Sports Over the Top” He answered:

“They should celebrate because the class is back. Virat Kohli has had some first-hand experience of this new approach of India in T20 cricket in England. So he has embraced that, not with great success, but he has embraced that. You have got to give credit to Virat Kohli.”

“He didn’t care about whether he was getting runs or whether he was getting out because he desperately needed runs in England and he is looking for international runs but he still sort of backed up the Indian team’s new philosophy. He was trying to hit boundaries from ball number one.”

Manjrekar also believes Rahul will find it easier to adapt to India’s aggressive batting technique than Kohli.

Kohli was out for a single run in the first T20I he played while attempting to hit a big shot off Richard Gleeson’s bowling. In the final T20I, the modern batting great whacked a David Willey delivery straight to Jason Roy at short extra cover.
