IND vs AUS: Wasim Jaffer Leaves Out Rishabh Pant As He Picks India XI For 1st T20I
Updated - 19 Sep 2022, 09:44 PM
Ex-India batter turned pundit Wasim Jaffer has revealed his playing XI for India’s opening T20I encounter against Australia. The Men in Blue will face the team from Down Under in a three-match T20I series slated to start on September 20 (Tuesday) in Mohali.
Echoing on the team lineup, Wasim Jaffer resonated with wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant’s current form. The 24-year-old has not been in the best of forms in the shortest format of the game. While the wicket-keeper batsman remains a vital player in the Indian set-up for his ability to change the complexion of the game within minutes, his lack of runs will be a thing of concern for the Indian team.
Wasim Jaffer names Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel as all-rounders for the series opener
Wasim Jaffer named Hardik Pandya along with Axar Patel as the all-rounders in the team while Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will make up the fast bowling options. Chahal has also been included in the team while Suryakumar Yadav was an automatic choice, given the kind of form he has been in currently.

As per Jaffer’s playing XI, Suryakumar Yadav is expected to bat at the number four position, while star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is slated next. In the pace department, he has gone with only two frontline fast bowlers including Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.
Australia will be without the services of David Warner
Australia, however, will be without the services of their talismanic opener David Warner, which might hamper their chances in the series. The selection committee, in the interim, has named Tim David in the squad and the right-handed batter is expected to make his debut in the first T20I encounter.
