The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 is expected to be a fascinating one as this time both teams are evenly matched. The Chetan Sharma-led selection panel has surprisingly ignored Sarfaraz Khan despite scoring tons of runs in the domestic circuit.
Suryakumar Yadav has been named in the squad and there are chances that the scintillating batter could be handed a debut for his attacking instincts. In the absence of Rishabh Pant, India’s middle order looks a bit fragile as Pant used to change the dynamics of the game in a short span of time.

Ravichandran Ashwin on Sarfaraz Khan
Ravichandran Ashwin was having an interaction on his YouTube channel and made some interesting comments on Sarfaraz Khan. “Where do I begin about this batsman? Sarfaraz Khan. There is so much debate on whether he should get selected or not. But he is not caring about selection, guys. In the 2019-20 season, he scored 900 runs. In the 2020-21 season, another 900 runs,” said Ravichandran Ashwin.

“This season, he has scored almost 600 runs. He has made a strong statement with his sheer performances. He is averaging in excess of 100 in the last three seasons at a high strike-rate as well. Sarfaraz Khan is not just smashing on the selection doors. He is burning them. But unfortunately, he is not getting selected currently. Despite not getting selected, he played a terrific knock for Mumbai against Delhi, the game in which Mumbai lost,” he added.
Exciting Series on Cards
Skipper Pat Cummins has a strenuous task on his hands as the team doesn’t have a reliable 2nd spinner present after Nathan Lyon. There are chances that Aussies would play with 3 pacers irrespective of the rank turners as later in the game reverse swing may come into play.
All eyes would be on Ravindra Jadeja, the flamboyant all-rounder has a pretty good record against Australia. The Men in Blue needs to be spot on with their selection as this time Australia has got a lot of match winners present in the side as compared to the 2017 Series.
