The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday that the venue for the third Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 has shifted from the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala to the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The board stated in a press release that the ground wasn’t ready to host a match.

The Australian media is concerned about the pitch conditions and venues used in the Test series in India. The Australian sports network Fox Sports highlighted Ravichandran Ashwin’s impressive record with the red ball at the Holkar Stadium after moving the third Test of the four-match series from Dharamsala to Indore.

“The third India Test has been moved to a new venue … where Ravichandran Ashwin averages 12.50 with the ball,” the channel wrote.

The BCCI Allots Matches Based On The Rotation Policy – Saba Karim

Speaking to India News Sports, Sabah Karim criticized the Australian media for raising questions over India’s allocation of the third Test venue to Indore. The former Indian selector said that they should support their team in the Test series instead of doing such unnecessary things.

“Fox Cricket always tries to do such unnecessary things. They should support their team instead of doing such things. Raising questions about the venue or the opposition team is of no use,” Saba Karim said.

“We all know that the BCCI allots matches based on the rotation policy. The best option would have been Indore, which is why the match has been shifted there,” he added.

India Have A Lot Of Test Venues, Unlike Australia – Saba Karim

Saba Karim emphasized that while India has many stadiums ready to host a Test match, it is important to allow such venues to host a five-day international game.

“India have a lot of Test venues, unlike Australia, who have just four or five Test grounds. Many states in India have created Test venues and it is important that they get the opportunity to host matches.”
