Team India pace bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah recently revealed the one umpire decision he still thinks was wrong in his cricketing career. Jasprit Bumrah highlighted that on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough could've favored him during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final match against Australia.

The Men in Blue suffered a heartbreaking loss against Australia in the ODI World Cup final match last year. The Indian cricket team failed to defend 240 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Australian cricket team successfully chased down the target with six wickets and seven overs to spare.

Australia opener Travis Head smashed a match-winning century in the summit clash. The left-handed batter scored 137 runs off 120 deliveries, including 15 boundaries and four sixes. Head added a 192-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Marnus Labuschagne, who scored an unbeaten 58 runs off 110 balls.

Richard Kettleborough Could Have Given That Out - Jasprit Bumrah

When asked about an umpire decision he still thinks was wrong, Jasprit Bumrah mentioned Richard Kettleborough's decision during the World Cup final match. Bumrah said that Marnus Labuschagne survived due to the umpire's call. Bumrah added that he always tells Richard that he could have given it out.

"Right or wrong is different but in the world cup final I got the wicket of Marnus Labuchagne on umpires call. So still whenever I meet Richards, I tell him you could have given that out," Bumrah said.

Bumrah reviewed an LBW decision against Marnus Labuschagne during the 28th over of Australia's innings. The decision went in favor of Labuschagne due to the umpire’s call. The right-arm pacer was seen in frustration as he knocked the bails with his cap after the decision. Australia was 157 for three at that point.

The Rohit Sharma-led team fell short in the title clash despite winning 10 consecutive matches to reach the final of last year's World Cup. Bumrah picked up two wickets in the summit clash, while Mohammed Shami and Siraj each claimed one wicket. Spin bowlers Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav went wicketless.

Jasprit Bumrah Named "Player of the Tournament" In T20 World Cup 2024

The Indian cricket team managed to end their 11-year ICC trophy drought during the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA). The Men in Blue defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final match in Barbados on June 29. It was Bumrah's first ICC trophy victory in his international career.

Bumrah played a crucial role in India's ICC Trophy victory and earned the "Player of the Tournament" award. The Gujarat-born pacer picked up 15 wickets at an impressive average of 8.27 and an outstanding economy rate of 4.18. He took two wickets and conceded 18 runs in his four overs in the T20 World Cup final match.
