Virat Kohli slammed a brilliant century in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday to add 72 international centuries to his career. He also surpassed former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting who accounts for 71 international centuries. Now, Virat Kohli is behind batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has 100 international centuries to his name.

Virat Kohli has hit centuries in all three formats. The right-handed batsman has hit 27 tons in Tests, 44 in ODIs, and 1 in T20Is. He needs 28 more centuries to reach 100 international centuries. This will be a challenging job for Kohli. Here we talk about 3 reasons why Virat Kohli won’t be able to score 100 international centuries.

3 Reasons Why Virat Kohli Won’t Be Able To Score 100 International Centuries

3. Few Years Left in Career

Virat Kohli is 34 years old currently. Hence, he only has 5-6 more years left in his career, considering that cricketers mostly play till 40 years of age. Hence, Kohli needs to slam 28 more centuries during these 5-6 years which will be a tough task.

Moreover, the former India skipper might also retire from one or two formats gradually in the upcoming years. Hence, he will get fewer opportunities to reach 100 centuries.

2. Too Much Workload

Virat Kohli is one player who plays all formats. He is a regular part of the team in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. He also plays in the Indian Premier League regularly. Hence, he has a lot of workload throughout the year. Being a super fit player, he gets injured less and hence is always available for matches.

However, this can add too much workload on the right-handed batter in the future. Hence, he will need rest too due to which he might skip many matches. As a result, he will be part of fewer international games, and will be tough for him to reach the milestone of 100 centuries.

3. Possible Slump in Form in Future

It is not wrong to say that Virat Kohli faced a slump in form during 2020-2022 when he failed to smash centuries in all three formats. Kohli played in all three formats and wasn’t able to score a century. After November 2019, he scored his next century during Asia Cup 2022 in September 2022.

Hence, there was a long gap when Kohli failed to reach a three-digit score in any format. There is a possibility that the Indian batter can face such a slump in form in the future too. Such happenings might slow down his journey to reach 100 international centuries.
