2021 hasn’t been the year for batsmen as not many players have crossed the 1000 run-mark so far and the Covid-19 pandemic times haven’t helped the cause too. It has been very tough for the players to adapt to the quarantine procedures and it can take a heavy toll on the mental aspect of the players.

Despite all, certain batsmen have made it count this year and have gone into a consistent run of form so far in 2021. They have to grind through the tough times inside the hotels and they will not be able to be with their families straightaway. With all those said, it is time to look at the most centuries by batsmen in Test cricket in 2021.

Fawad Alam has been the talking point of the Pakistan test side as he has done exceedingly well after making a comeback to the Test side after almost a decade. Alam has scored 513 runs in 11 innings in Tests this year at an average of 57. He has scored three centuries and one half-century this year with the highest score of 140. He has been holding the middle order together on the Pakistan side and has stepped up when needed the most.

Joe Root has been in scintillating form in 2021 and no wonder, he is leading the batting charts for most runs in 2021. The England skipper has upgraded his gameplay to the highest order and has been one of the standout players despite England’s top order struggles. He has been scoring at a very good strike rate as well which is very key to his success.

Root has scored 1398 runs in 21 innings in Tests in 2021 at an average of 69.90. He has scored six Test centuries this year with three coming in the ongoing Test series in England against India and there are still two more tests to go in this series. He has moved on to the number two spot in ICC test rankings for batsmen and his numbers in 2021 will be tough to break.
