India won the first test in Chattogram against Bangladesh. The margin of victory was 188 runs, By the looks of it, India registered a comfortable win but there were greater concerns for India throughout the Test series. India’s opening combination was the biggest problem. KL Rahul’s continuous failures was one of the major concerns.

India scored 404 in the first innings on the back of scores from Cheteshar Pujara (90), Shreyas Iyer (86) Rishabh Pant (46), and Ravichandran Ashwin (58). The Indian bowlers then bowled out Bangladesh for 150. India scored 258/2 with Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara scoring centuries before India declared.

Bangladesh failed to chase down a stiff target of 512 runs. They were bowled out for 324 with Zakir Hasan scoring his maiden Test ton. Kuldeep Yadav took eight wickets in the Test match and was dropped from the squad for the second Test in Dhaka. This is one of the many reasons why despite the win, the Chattogra Test was not one to remember for Indian fans.
