Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw has once again put his name in the hat for selection in the upcoming Test series against Australia, with his second double-hundred in first-class cricket.
Prithvi Shaw scores 204* in 239 balls for Mumbai against Assam in the Ranji Trophy.

Shaw was a member of the India A team that went to Chennai to take on a New Zealand A team in September, but the Indian selectors have not chosen him for any home or away series since then. Since December 2020, Prithvi Shaw, who recorded a century on his Test debut in 2018, has not appeared for India in white. In July 2021, while on a tour of Sri Lanka with a side captained by Dhawan, he made his final appearance for India in white-ball cricket.
Shaw stated in October 2022 that he is prepared to go past his setbacks and put in even more effort in order to capture the senior selection committee, which is chaired by Chetan Sharma.

“I was disappointed, I am scoring runs, doing a lot of hard work, but not getting a chance. But, it’s alright. When they [national selectors] feel I am ready, they will play me.” Prithvi Shaw was quoted as saying by mid-day.

Shaw will now attempt to make another statement with a double ton, as the selectors will be watching him closely. As things stand, he is still an arm’s length away from the Test setup, but today’s ton should be enough to attract the selectors’ attention and reclaim his place.
