AB de Villiers Wants To See "Fighting Spirit" In "Too Nice" RCB Batter Rajat Patidar

Former South African cricketer Ab de Villiers shared his experience of playing with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Rajat Patidar in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He said that the young cricketer is a nice guy and he needs to bring fighting spirit in him.

Rajat Patidar is one of the most exciting talents in the Indian cricket. The right-hander made himself a great name during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He had a staggering season and slammed a century in the eliminator.

Rajat Patidar has impressed many with his consistency in the domestic circuit as well. The batter has had his setbacks as well and he faced a lot of injuries as well. However, he is now back with a bang and has been named in the Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa.

AB de Villiers, who played with Rajat Patidar, at Royal Challengers Bangalore said that the young India batter has a solid personality, and being nice can lead to his downfall. He also hailed RCB batter for his domestic performances and said that he has a great future. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

“He is a great player. I played with him for a few seasons at RCB but at that time he was young and now he has more experience under his belt. He is a solid personality with a solid technique.

“I want to see a fighting spirit in him. He is too nice sometimes, which might be his downfall. I think he has a bright future and it is great to see him rewarded for his performances in the domestic scene.”

AB de Villiers reveals his favorite innings for RCB

AB de Villiers also named his favorite innings for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He said that his knock against Rajasthan Royals in Dubai. He recalled hitting Jofra Archer for six and winning a game for his team.

“I think of a very nice chase against the Rajasthan Royals at the Dubai stadium and finishing off by hitting Jofra Archer for a six over cow (corner). One of my favourite innings because we were down and out in that game. I love it when we are down and out. Give me a challenge and it really gets me excited (smiles).”

During that game, AB de Villiers scored 55* off just 22 balls. He won his team game when they were down and dusted. With 35 runs needed off two overs, he played a blinder to take his team home.
