Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is the latest member from the cricketing fraternity to hail Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar Yadav has made an irrefutable case for the T20 World Cup by making the most of his opportunities after debuting earlier this year for India. Harbhajan Singh feels the 31-year old is at par with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as a batter.

Suryakumar Yadav, who made his T20I debut earlier this year against England, showed his mettle in his first ODI appearance too. The 31-year old scored an attractive 31 off 20 deliveries, while he made an impressive 53 off 44 balls in India’s three-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second ODI. Yadav did not fare badly either in the final ODI, scoring a risk-free 40. Ultimately, he earned the man of the series award as well.

Harbhajan Singh recalls seeing Suryakumar Yadav as a young boy while captaining the Mumbai Indians. But the 103-Test veteran thinks he is one of the most critical members of the team after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma with the bat.

“I have followed Suryakumar Yadav for years now. When I was captaining the Mumbai Indians, he was a young boy and in today’s time, after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he is the most complete player in terms of batting,” Singh told Sports Tak.

Suryakumar is a must whether it’s World Cup squad, one-day squad, T20I or Test squad: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh underlined that Suryakumar Yadav has grown into a fantastic player, capable of playing fast and spin bowling expertly. The 41-year old reckons there are only a few batsmen better than him today and must be included in any squad regardless of the format.

“Over the years, I have seen him grow as a player. He is a phenomenal batsman, who can play fast bowling. He has plenty of time and in terms of playing spin, you will not find a better batsman in India in today’s time. So, in my opinion, Suryakumar is a must whether it’s World Cup squad, one-day squad, T20I or Test squad,” he added.
