Ahmed Shehzad slaps Mohammad Amir with ‘India will play T20 WC semi-finals’ prediction: As Pakistan was knocked out of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the focus is gradually shifting to India's upcoming match, which will be against the West Indies today (March 1), at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Team India will have to win the match at any cost to keep their momentum in the tournament unharmed.

From Group 1 of the Super 8 stage, South Africa already confirmed their place in the semifinals, after which only one spot remains in the semis. Either the West Indies or India will progress further.

It was a topic for debate on a Pakistani television channel featuring Mohammad Amir and Ahmed Shehzad. Amir confidently opined that India will not be able to make their way to the Semi-finals. He takes a bet on the West Indies. In support of his comments, the former Pakistan pacer explained that, apart from Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian bowling line-up has been struggling in the tournament.

"West Indies will win the match (vs India) and will play the semi-finals. If you take a look at the India vs Zimbabwe match, India conceded 184 runs. Only Jasprit Bumrah has been performing well, apart from him, no bowler is consistent. West Indies has a lot of firepower in their batting dependents. Even in their last match against South Africa, they took their total to 176 even after losing half of their batting within the hundred-run mark", Mohammad Amir said.

Though Ahmed Shehzad's prediction is complete in the opposite direction. He believes India will definitely play the semifinals, defeating West Indies in Kolkata. Shehzad's explanation was purely focused on the Indian cricket ecosystem.

Taking the India vs Pakistan match as an example, Ahmed Shehzad said, India knows how to handle pressure situations. Taking a step further, he predicted, India not only will defeat West Indies, but will also win the T20 World Cup 2026.

"India will enter the semi-finals. Look at their cricket structure, how they groom their players from the grassroots. They know how to overcome pressure situations. The India vs Pakistan match is undoubtedly amongst the most pressure games, where India defeated us with ease in the recent past. That shows their strength, resilience, and temperament, which every player should have to win a World Cup", Ahmed Shehzad opined.

Muhammad Amir said, "West Indies will easily beat India."
