Former Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad has landed in legal trouble after making serious public allegations against a former national team captain. Cybercrime authorities have started an investigation and summoned the batter for questioning over his controversial statements made across different platforms.

According to prominent Pakistani journalist Saleem Khaliq, the former captain lost his patience after enduring repeated baseless accusations. The captain pursued the legal route by filing a formal complaint. The cybercrime department has summoned Shehzad to their Lahore office for an official inquiry.

According to reports, former captain Babar Azam is taking strict legal action. After Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024, Ahmed Shehzad repeatedly accused Babar Azam of poor leadership, favoritism, and damaging the national team setup.

Babar began collecting evidence in June 2024 with support from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s legal team. He has targeted former players and YouTubers for spreading what he considers baseless misconduct and match-fixing allegations after the tournament.

Pakistani journalist Saleem Khaliq reported the development of the case. He shared the update on social media, revealing the involvement of law enforcement agencies and a cybercrime investigation against the former opening batter.

"Ahmad Shehzad has landed in legal trouble for making allegations against a former captain. An investigation has been initiated under cybercrime laws, and he has also been summoned for questioning," Saleem Khaliq wrote on X.

A Look Back at Ahmed Shehzad's Career

Ahmed Shehzad has been absent from the Pakistan national team since his last international match during a home series against Sri Lanka in 2019. Despite staying active in cricket, the 33-year-old now mainly appears on television as a vocal critic of the national team.

During his international career, Ahmed Shehzad played 13 Tests and scored 982 runs at an average of 40.91. His record includes three centuries and four half-centuries, although he mostly focused on limited-overs formats.

In white-ball cricket, Ahmed Shehzad scored 2,605 runs in 81 ODIs at an average of 32.56. He also made 1,471 runs in 59 T20Is at an average of 25.80, including an unbeaten 111 against Bangladesh.

A Look Back at Babar Azam's Career

Babar Azam continues to be a key member of the Pakistan national team across formats and remains one of their most important players. The top-order batter led the side but stepped down from captaincy in 2024.

In Test cricket, Babar Azam has scored over 4,300 runs in 61 matches at an average of 42.39, including 9 centuries and 30 half-centuries. He has been a consistent performer for Pakistan in challenging conditions.

In limited-overs cricket, Babar has been equally impressive. He has scored over 6,500 runs in 140 ODIs at an average above 53, along with more than 4,500 runs in 144 T20Is. The right-handed batter was last seen in action during the T20 World Cup 2026 and was dropped from the squad for the Bangladesh ODIs.
