Mumbai Indians (MI) owner Akash Ambani showed visible frustration during the IPL match and left the Wankhede Stadium before the game ended during IPL 2026. After witnessing a complete batting collapse from his team against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he was also seen asking nearby fans to leave.
Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 103 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 23. After being asked to bat first, Chennai posted 207 runs in the first innings. They then bowled out Mumbai Indians for just 104 runs in 19 overs, moving to fifth place while Mumbai slipped to eighth in the table.
Mumbai Indians Owner Akash Ambani Left the Stadium Mid-Match
Akash Ambani left the stadium before the match ended as his team’s hopes faded quickly during the chase. With the batting lineup struggling badly against the Chennai Super Kings, his early exit clearly showed the frustration in the Mumbai camp.
Mumbai never gained control of the chase and fell far behind, eventually suffering a heavy defeat in front of their home crowd.
Akash Ambani is usually seen supporting the team from the stands, but this was a rare, disappointing moment. The combination of a one-sided loss and his early departure made the outing difficult for the Mumbai Indians.

Sanju Samson’s Century Powers CSK to Massive Total
Sanju Samson dominated the Mumbai Indians bowling attack in the first innings. He scored his second century of the season, remaining unbeaten on 101 off 54 balls, including ten fours and six sixes. He carried the Chennai Super Kings batting lineup almost single-handedly.
Allah Ghazanfar and Ashwani Kumar picked up two wickets each for Mumbai Indians. Chennai Super Kings posted a strong total of 207 and also recorded their highest powerplay score against Mumbai Indians since 2015, reaching 73 runs in the early overs.
Mumbai Indians faced setbacks in the field. Mitchell Santner injured his shoulder while taking a diving catch, and Akash Ambani showed concern near the dugout. With Santner forced off, Mumbai used Shardul Thakur as a concussion substitute.
Akeal Hosein’s Spell Triggers MI Batting Collapse
Chasing 208, Mumbai Indians suffered a major collapse at home. Chennai Super Kings brought in left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein as an Impact Player, and he made an immediate impact. Hosein picked up four wickets while conceding just 17 runs in his four overs.
Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav scored 37 and 36 runs, respectively, but the rest of the batting lineup failed. Noor Ahmad bagged two wickets for 23 runs. Eight Mumbai Indians batters fell for single-digit scores, resulting in one of their heaviest defeats.
Chennai Super Kings sealed their biggest win over Mumbai Indians in IPL history. They will next face Gujarat Titans (GT) at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, April 26.
