Delhi Capitals’ (DC) express pacer Anrich Nortje was satisfied with his side’s overall performance against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday. DC completed a comfortable 33-run win over their opponents to move back to the top of the table.
After being sent in to bat first, DC got off to a poor start losing both their openers in the powerplay. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer teamed up to stabilize the innings with a 62-run partnership. Both of them perished in a matter of few balls which halted the innings.
A late push saw them reach 154/6 in their 20 overs. It was a tricky total on a tricky wicket so the DC bowlers were always in with a chance. They started off beautifully as well, with Man of the Match, Anrich Nortje providing crucial breakthroughs.
“It was quite slow and Shreyas Iyer said it was difficult to hit straight. So we were trying to get them to hit straight. All the bowlers did a great job. We try and share ideas as much as we can and then you make the most of it,” Nortje said.
“We work hard on fitness, you have to stay fit” – Anrich Nortje
The Proteas pacer has been putting in the hard yards for the DC side. In their previous match, Nortje bowled the 7 fastest deliveries of the IPL 2021 season, all in the same game. Much of it comes down to the fitness standards that have been set these days, as expressed by Nortje.
“I have been working a lot on executing the yorkers. It doesn’t always land perfectly but [it’s] great when it works. We work quite hard on fitness. I don’t know when the season’s stopping, so you have to stay fit,” Nortje mentioned.
The pacer had excellent figures of 2/18 in his four overs and provided crucial breakthroughs whenever the side needed it. The win for DC took them above CSK and they now have 8 wins in 10 matches so far.
