Ahead of the fifth and final Test against England, India is all set to face a double blow, as Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav are both doubtful for the crucial game at The Oval Cricket Ground, Kennington, starting on Thursday, July 31.

The Indian cricket team pulled off a sensational draw in the fourth Test in Manchester, leaving the ongoing five-match Test series in balance, with the tourists still having the chance to deny England a win at The Oval. Notably, England is currently leading 2-1 in the Test series against India.

Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav doubtful as England eye Test series win at The Oval

As reported by Revsportz, Arshdeep Singh is facing issues with the webbing on his hand. There had been hope that Arshdeep Singh could recover in time, but the report revealed that Arshdeep Singh won't be available for the crucial final Test against England.

Surprisingly, Kuldeep Yadav has not played a single game on the England tour, but the wrist-spinner is still not sure to play in the final Test due to fitness issues. Revsportz claimed that Kuldeep Yadav is doubtful for the Oval Test against England due to fitness concerns.

With Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav reportedly sidelined, all eyes are now on Akash Deep, who is likely to get a golden opportunity to prove himself once again under the pressure on the England tour.

It is being said that Akash Deep recovered from the groin injury that he sustained during the Lord's Test, and he could very well feature in the playing XI for the final Test.

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for the final Test

On the other hand, there is no immediate concern regarding Jasprit Bumrah, but he could be rested for the fifth Test as part of his workload management, and it could hurt India badly. This match is too important to take chances, and the Indian team would want their ace pacer leading the charge.

With limited options remaining, the Indian bowling attack might now rely on the likes of Mohammed Siraj, who has already played all four tests in England; Prasidh Krishna; Shardul Thakur; and the all-round spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar at The Oval.

Can India rewrite history at The Oval again?

Meanwhile, the Kennington Oval Cricket Ground in London is one of the most iconic stadiums in England. Since 1936, India has played 32 matches at this venue, making it the most-visited cricket ground in England by the Indian cricket team.

India's journey at the Oval began in 1936, but it took 35 years for them to register their first win here. That historic victory came on 19 August 1971. The most recent and memorable win came under Virat Kohli’s captaincy on 2 September 2021 in the longest format of the game.

So far, India has played 15 Test matches at the Oval. Out of those, they have won only 2, drawn 7, and lost 6 against England. Despite the poor record, the young Indian cricket team, led by Shubman Gill, would love to give it all to draw the Test series. India has not won a Test series in England since 2007.
