Former England skipper Eoin Morgan believes that test cricket is still the greatest format. Eoin Morgan pointed out that he wanted to play Ashes but couldn’t due to England’s star-studded batting lineup in 2010-11 when England won the series by 3-1.

The duo of head coach Brendon McCullum & skipper Ben Stokes will bring their ‘A’ game. We witnessed how the mighty Aussies outplayed India in the WTC final 2021-23. Australia showed that they can also be ruthless.

Australia would be banking on the elegant left-handed batter Usman Khawaja to give the team a good start as the form of David Warner is quite topsy-turvy as the conditions would be quite gruelling at Birmingham.

England would be eyeing to get rid of Steve Smith cheaply as the batter last time in Ashes 2019 had amassed 774 runs and was in sublime touch. The duo of James Anderson & Stuart Broad would be tested as the Smith doesn’t have a significant weakness.

I went on the 2010/11 tour as a spare batter – Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan was having an interaction with The Mirror and said that he couldn’t get a chance during the 2010/11 Ashes as the batting lineup was strong. Eoin Morgan heaped praise on Ben Stokes and said that he has taken huge responsibility for making the game as attractive as possible.

“I would have given my left arm to play in the Ashes. I went on the 2010/11 tour as the spare batter, but we had such a strong batting lineup,” said Eoin Morgan.

“Every time I had an opportunity against the Aussies particularly in 50-over cricket. I would go ‘well, this is the closest I’m getting to playing an Ashes against these guys. If that is where I want to be, then I need to do well here to start with,” he stated.

“Test cricket for me is still unbelievable, But it is a really challenging time for it. It has lost Virat Kohli as a Test captain and he always spoke vividly about how much he loved it and was passionate about it. Stokes is the same, and he has taken on a huge responsibility to the game to make it as attractive as possible,” he added.
