Australia’s men’s cricket team is at the helm of the Test ranking. In the recently released annual rankings, it shows that the Australia remains at the top of the World Test Championship points table with 87.50 percent, while New Zealand, the second-place holder in the rankings, has a 77.78 percent winning ratio in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

Like the men’s cricket team, Australia’s Women’s cricket team had been dominating in the One Day International format in the past year's cycle. Despite a slight dip of two rating points to 163, they are the table toppers in the format, with England in the second place with 128 points, still trailing by a significant margin despite a two-point gain.

Australia's national cricket teams are dominating in multiple formats; India is at No.3

"The annual rankings update considers all matches played since May 2025 at full weightage (100 per cent), while results from the preceding two years are factored in at 50 per cent," the International Cricket Council (ICC) informed in the official release on the first day of May, 2026.

"The annual update had no impact on the top two in the Men's Test rankings, with Australia continuing their reign at No.1, strengthening their position with a three-point increase to 131," it added further.

Australia remains firmly at the top with 131 rating points, extending its dominance with a slight three-point gain. Right behind them, reigning World Test Champions South Africa also held steady at second place, improving to 119 points.

India has risen to the third spot in the ICC men's Test teams' annual rankings. India climbed one spot to reach 104 points, overtaking England, which has dropped to the fourth spot with 102 points as they lost in multiple crucial matches in the Whites in the recent past.

Along with India, Pakistan has also made significant progress in the points table, pushing Sri Lanka behind.

The annual ranking and the WTC rankings are not similar

It is important to note that the annual rankings and the ongoing WTC rankings are not similar. While Team India has captured third place in the annual rankings, in the WTC points table, they are in sixth position.

India currently remains at sixth position in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle with just 48.15 PCT as they lost the home series against South Africa and Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) on Australian soil in the ongoing cycle, and Australia is top of the table with 87.50 PCT, and New Zealand is in second place with 77.78 PCT.

The ICC Women’s ODI Rankings are almost unchanged

ICC, in their official media release, informed that the Women’s ODI Rankings see the top six places unchanged. Australia’s lead has fallen by four rating points, but they are still at an impressive rating of 163. England has increased their lead over India from one to four points and is on 128. India (124), South Africa (100), New Zealand (93), and Sri Lanka (89) are the other teams to retain their positions.
