Babar Azam the Pakistan skipper is under huge pressure to potentially save his captaincy career. He recently led Pakistan in two ICC events.

However, he has failed to even make it to the knockouts of the tournament let alone winning any of the two. With Pakistan set to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Babar Azam has another big ICC event to win next year.

Winning the tournament should be his goal to save his captaincy career and potentially his cricket career as well. Babar batting with a low strike rate across formats has often been a discussion. With Pakistan struggling to find upcoming talented batters, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are their premier batters across formats. The likes of Saim Ayub and Abdulla Shafique are also good. Pakistan Test skipper Shan Masood is another batter who is considered to be the best in the side.

The main reason behind Pakistan not winning ICC tournaments in recent times has finally been exposed by former national team cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman. He said that the players are playing for their personal goals and their personal agenda and not playing as a team which is why Pakistan cricket is in crisis at the moment.

"Random people at the start thinking their personal goals their personal agendas and this is what happened they forget they are here to play cricket and cricket is not an individual game and even out of 11 players one person is playing for themselves can harm the team and that's what happening to Pakistan," Zaman told on Twitter.

Meanwhile, several former Pakistan cricketers have already started talking about the removal of Babar Azam as captain. Ahmed Shehzad is among the ones who has been constantly critiquing Babar for playing for his place in the side.

Now former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt too has joined the bandwagon. Recently he said that Shan Massod will be the perfect replacement for Babar Azam as the captain of Pakistan across formats. Butt has overlooked names like Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan and Shadab Khan who are the senior players in this Pakistan squad.

Meanwhile, Babar also kept a word on his captaincy and Pakistan's performance in the T20 World Cup after their exit from the tournament. His words came after Pakistan's consolation win over Ireland in their final Super 8 match. However, losses to USA and India meant they already were out of the tournament.
