During the 2nd innings of the India vs England second ODI at the Sophia Gardens Cricket Ground, Cardiff, Ben Duckett went back for a golden duck off the first ball of the second innings, with Jasprit Bumrah providing India the start they wanted while defending a small target of 233 runs.

After Ben Duckett was dismissed, he was inducted into the unwanted record list as he became the first instance of an England batter getting dismissed off the first ball of an innings against India. Shubman Gill and his side got off to a brilliant start with the ball.

Ben Duckett enters unwanted list

Jasprit Bumrah troubled Ben Duckett in the first ODI game, and in the second match, he got the Southpaw off the first ball as he nicked one off to Ishan Kishan, who took a regulation catch. The ball from Bumrah was excellent, as it swung away from the left-handed just had the slightest of touches with the bat.

Ben Duckett struggled against Jasprit Bumrah in the first game as well; he tried to play some strokes but missed and then went back for the score of 43 runs, with Gurnoor Brar picking up the wicket in the first game.

India were invited to bat first, as they made a forced change in the game with KL Rahul being sick; Ishan Kishan came into the side. England made two changes with Saqib Mahmood and Gus Atkinson coming in for Liam Dawson and Josh Tongue.

Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer scored fifties

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were off to a good start. The India captain looked in fine touch but was unfortunately dismissed for 31 runs, and Rohit, after a scratchy knock, scored 26 runs. Virat Kohli came back in form, scoring a fine half-century and breaking several records.

Kohli played a fine knock of 65 runs off 66 deliveries, smashing 8 boundaries; he was yet again dismissed by Jofra Archer in this series. Shreyas Iyer also backed his good form after being run out in the first match as he played a knock of 66 runs and helped India to go past the 200-run mark.

Gus Atkinson, who dropped a tough catch of Rohit Sharma in the match, was the pick of the bowlers as he finished 4/50, and Archer picked up 3 wickets in the game.

England lose both openers early

While coming out to chase a target of 234 runs, England lost two openers very early, as after the wicket of Ben Duckett, Jacob Bethell also followed after scoring just 4 runs. Now Joe Root and Harry Brook are at the crease, and the India bowlers are at the top and not letting them score runs easily.

India needs to break this partnership inside the first 10 overs and bring in the middle-order as soon as possible, as a sub-300 target has never been successfully defended in ODIs in Cardiff. The Men in Blue if they win this game, they will win the series.
