Indian U-19 skipper Yash Dhull was among the five players who returned a positive result in their RT-PCR test and were consequently ruled out of the group stage match against Uganda.

Six players had been isolated earlier after a positive test and the latest test sees only Vasu Vats return a negative result, a source from the ICC was quoted as saying to PTI.

Dhull, Aaradhya Yadav, and Shaik Rasheed, who had tested positive in the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT), have tested positive in the RT-PCR test along with Manav Parakh, who tested negative in RAT.

The situation is so dire that the positive news is the fact that the other players who were not isolated have tested negative. “One positive out of this unfortunate situation is that the 11 who played against Ireland have all tested negative,” said the ICC source.

The source for the covid outbreak was probably when the players interacted with the coach after arriving in Guyana for the U-10 World Cup. They had just won the Asia Cup and had to undergo several tests in the process.
