Former Pakistan skipper Moin Khan recently spoke about the misdoings that have been happening with his son Azam Khan with respect to him playing international cricket.

Azam Khan has played five T20Is so far for his national team making his debut against England in July 2021. He played his last match for Pakistan which was a T20I international against Afghanistan earlier this year in March.

Speaking to A Sports, Moin Khan spoke in detail about his son’s international career so far and how he has been mistreated by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Replying to the anchor’s question on the mistreatment of Azam, Moin said that the PCB did not treat him well despite him already playing international cricket for Pakistan.

“He was indeed mistreated by the PCB on many occasions. I will mention here a few instances where he was not at fault but the cricket board was” said Moin.

“He was initially named in the Pakistan squad for the U-19 World Cup. He was born on 10/8/1998. However, when he was selected, his date of birth was wrongly read by the PCB which was printed on the passport as 8/10/1998/ Thus due to a difference of two months due to the printing mistake he was dropped from the squad before two days before the squad was scheduled to travel to New Zealand” he added further.

Moin Khan further revealed how heartbroken Azam was after he was dropped from the side with no fault of his at all. He also said that he tried to make his son understand that this was just a part of the game as it is said.

“Azam this was just the first step perhaps to your cricketing journey and he was not at any fault and it was just a part and parcel of the game” Moin Khan said.

He concluded by recalling the moment when Azam Khan was not included in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2021 team when Ramiz Raja was the PCB Chairman.

“Pakistan Cricket Board did not include him in the T20 World Cup 2021 squad with Ramiz Raja as the Chairman. They just threw him out of the team. The selectors select the team and if a particular player has made a mistake, it is the job of the selectors to identify the mistake and the people associated with the board. The players are hardly at fault. This is the reason why Azam was disheartened after he was dropped” Moin Khan concluded saying.

Despite not playing international cricket, Azam Khan regularly plays for the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL.
