Former Australian opener and current head coach Justin Langer empathizes with Team India for the humiliation that they suffered at the hands of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood after they got knocked over 36 in the second innings of the Adelaide Test but he is glad that it is the tourists who are under stress as compared to his team.

Langer, who recently participated in the virtual press-conference ahead of the Boxing Day Test, was asked what he would have done had been in Indian head coach Ravi Shastri’s shoes.

Langer responded by saying that that’s ‘none of his business’ and that he is just glad that he is not in the same opposition, adding as he has enough stress as an Australian head coach.

”None of my business. I have had enough with stresses. I empathise with the opposition and I know what it feels like. If India are feeling any stress, I am glad they are and not us over the Christmas weekend.” Justin Langer said in the virtual press-conference.

With India grappling with the absence of star players like Virat Kohli [paternity leave] and Mohammed Shami [injured], Justin Langer admitted that it does give his side some advantage but the former Test opener once again stressed on the fact that Australia neeed to focus on their processes in order to get the desired result.

”Of course, whatever sport you play, if you take out two of your stars, Virat Kohli is an all-time great player I think and Shami is a real glue for the team because he is so miserly and skilful. It surely gives us some advantage,” Langer said.

“We need to start strongly on the first day and build pressure on Rahane as he is the new captain of India for this series. So the processes don’t change. Whenever you take out best players of any cricket team, it weakens them and that’s the reality,” he added.

Star opener David Warner has been ruled out of the Boxing Day Test after he failed to recover from the groin strain injury. Langer revealed that Warner is currently facing a bit of trouble in running at full speed, adding that once he returns to top fitness, he will return to the side.

”I am very hopeful. ….as I said for the last three weeks or so, he will be doing everything possible to get back out onto the ground, so fingers crossed,” he said.

He is starting (to get) a bit of trouble running at full speed, when he gets that back and feels confident with it, of course he will come back into our team, so we will just monitor him regularly and fingers crossed that he will be back,” Langer said.
