A key name that was not part of the India squad for the World Cup is Yuzvendra Chahal. He has been a key spinner for the team for the past few years. However, the right-arm spinner was neglected in the final squad. Kuldeep Yadav has been picked as the sole wrist-spinner in the India squad.
Taking to X, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh supported Yuzvendra Chahal???s inclusion in the World Cup. He posted that he was surprised to see him absent from the squad. He also called him a pure match-winner. Have a look at Harbhajan Singh???s post below.
???Surprise not to see @yuzi_chahal in the World Cup squad for Team India. pure Match winner.???
Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal has been impressive for India in T20Is this year. However, he could not excel in ODIs with Kuldeep Yadav gaining most of the opportunities. The left-arm spinner has emerged as the leading wicket-taker for India in ODIs so far.
Yuzvendra Chahal was also dropped from the Asia Cup 2023 squad, being replaced by Kuldeep Yadav. He was expected to be part of the World Cup, however, could not get a place. Below is the India squad for ICC World Cup 2023:
Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.
ICC World Cup 2023 will witness a battle between 10 teams on Indian soil. They are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, and Netherlands.
