Former India National Cricket Team off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has dropped a massive remark on the Pakistan pace-bowling unit, saying that it will be all over the place if Shaheen Afridi goes wicketless.

Pakistan pacers have been dominating in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah with 9, 7, and 7 wickets respectively are the top three wicket-takers in the tournament.

The dangerous pace-trio will be next in action when Pakistan face India in the Super Four stage of he Asia Cup 2023 on September 10 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Speaking ahead of the match on his official YouTube channel, Harbhajan Singh said that the so-called world-class Pakistan pacers will crumble under pressure in case the premier left-arm pacer Shaheen doesn’t get wickets.

“India have to make sure that Shaheen does not get wickets. If he does not get wickets, then the pressure will be on the other bowlers,” he said.

“When the pressure will shift, then the so-called World Class bowling attack will be all over the place. If India are batting first, then they should aim to score around 300 runs.”

In the first of the three possible encounters between arch-rivals – India and Pakistan – in the Asia Cup the Men In Green pacers – Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf – dismantled the Indian batting unit. They reduced India to 66/4 before Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya bailed the side out of trouble.

However, they made a good enough comeback and picked wickets at regular intervals to bowl out India for 266. Shaheen bagged four wickets while Haris and Naseem picked three wickets each. It was the first time in ODI Asia Cup history that all 10 wickets in a match were picked by pacers.

Harbhajan Singh further said that the Indian opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will have to survive against the new ball and if they manage to do that India won’t be under any pressure.

“If Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill play out the first 15 overs against the new ball, then I don’t think India will be in any kind of trouble. It is important that Gill, Rohit and Kohli play well, they will have to keep their ego aside while facing the Pakistan pacers with the new ball. Even if you don’t score runs off Shaheen initially, it is totally fine.”
