IND vs SA: The Conditions Could Be Good From South Africa's Point Of View, They'll Get That Moisture Again – Ashish Nehra On The Impact Of Rain On 1st Test

Day 2 of the first match of the three-match Test series between India and South Africa at the SuperSport Park, Centurion was called off due to continuous rain. Meanwhile, Ashish Nehra has opined that after the rain, the conditions might favour South Africa.
At stumps on Day 1, India were at 272/3 with former Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and current vice-captain KL Rahul looking brilliant out in middle and on Day 3 the duo will be seen batting together once again after Day 2 was washed out and 98 overs will be played on the Day 3.

Speaking on Cricbuzz Nehra said that the moisture might get increased on the ground which will benefit the Proteas team.
“The main thing is that when the groundsmen remove the covers in the morning – they do it much before the start of play – and if the sun is shining at that moment then [it could make a difference].
“Else, we talked earlier about how we might see more pace and bounce on this surface – that I think won’t come still. In fact, we talked about the moisture going down – that might have increased now as well,” Ashish Nehra said.
Ashish Nehra added that the moisture will benefit pacers like Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen and all-rounder Mulder.
“The conditions could be good from South Africa’s point of view. They’ll get that moisture again. Out and out fast-bowlers like Rabada and Marco Jansen, who use bounce are successful on any surface but all-rounders like Mulder will especially benefit more here,” he added.
We Say ‘Control The Controllables’, You’ll Have To Keep That Mindset Whether You Are The Indian Captain Or An Indian Fan – Ashish Nehra
Ashish Nehra further added that KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane starting well and then not being able to play on Day 2 would sting the team.
“Especially in the situation India is now, that you are at 272-3, KL Rahul [has scored a] 100, Ajinkya Rahane, an experienced player is at 40 not out, then these things sting even more.
“But it’s a kind of thing that it’s in nobody’s control and I believe that in such [situations], there’s no benefit in taking a headache worrying about it. We say ‘control the controllables’, you’ll have to keep that mindset whether you are the Indian captain, an Indian fan,” he elaborated.
