Cricketer-turned-commentator Pragyan Ojha has advised the Indian team to allow Umran Malik to bowl his full quota of overs in IND vs WI 3rd ODI. Pragyan Ojha feels that this is one change he would like to see in India’s bowling in the 3rd ODI.
Right-arm pacer Umran Malik was part of both the previous games between India and West Indies. However, he was allowed to bowl just 3 overs each in both games. As he emerged expensive in his first few overs, he was restricted from bowling more overs in both games.
Allow Umran Malik To Bowl Full Quota Of Overs: Pragyan Ojha
While previewing the IND vs WI 3rd ODI on Jio Cinema, former India spinner Pragyan Ojha was asked about the bowling strategies that India should execute in the 3rd ODI. To this, the 36-year-old replied that key bowlers like Umran Malik should be allowed to bowl their full quota of overs.
“If we talk about the bowling, I will want to see one thing. Your main bowlers should get their full quota of overs, like complete Umran Malik’s quota of overs.
We saw Axar Patel, on a wicket where there was turn and the batters were finding it difficult when you changed your pace, bowling only two overs including a maiden,” the former left-arm spinner said.
Umran Malik emerged highly expensive in his first three overs in both games. He conceded 17 runs in his 3 overs in the 1st ODI and 27 runs in the 2nd ODI. Since both games were low-scoring, Malik leaked a lot of runs due to which he was halted from bowling more overs.
India Can Test Middle-Order In 3rd ODI: Pragran Ojha
Pragran Ojha, who represented India from 2008 to 2013, also added that India can test their middle order properly in the 3rd ODI against West Indies.
“If we talk about the team, this is an opportunity where the middle order can be tested properly. You are talking about Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja – they haven’t batted much.
So they can be tested because when you go to the next series, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul might come back”, the cricketer-turned-commentator further added.
