The KS Bharat vs Ishan Kishan conundrum has picked up pace ahead of the first Test. Former Indian cricketers have had different opinions on whom to choose between the two keeper-batters.
Now former Indian selector Devang Gandhi has given his opinion on the same. He has backed KS Bhaat over Ishan Kishan for the first Test against West Indies in Dominica. The first Test will be played from July 12-16.

Bharat has been India’s first-choice keeper since Rishabh Pant’s unfortunate accident last year. He has played five Test matches scoring 226 runs at an average of 18.43. 23 and 44 are his two best scores in Test cricket both coming against Australia when they toured India. In the WTC final when Bharat needed to bat alongside Ajinkya Rahane in both the innings, he scored just five and 23. The right-hander is yet to score a fifty in Test cricket.
Kishan is yet to play Tests and his last first-class game came in December. His average of 38.76 after 48 matches in the first-class format is decent. He is being seen as a potential replacement for Pant as the management thinks India needs an enforcer like him at number six.

However, former India national selector Devang Gandhi has backed Bharat ahead of Kishan saying that the team management needs to be persistent with the right-hander.
KS Bharat Deserves Another Chance In Terms Of Continuity
“In terms of continuity, Bharat should get another chance. He has played a few Tests, which means he has gained a bit of experience,” Gandhi told The Telegraph.
“If Bharat looked sharp with the bat as well as behind the stumps in the warm-up game, I feel he should be persisted with, at least for the first Test,” Gandhi added further.
Former selector and BCCI general manager Saba Karim also backed Bharat saying that he deserves more chances.
“He did a pretty decent job as a keeper in the WTC final in English conditions,” said Saba Karim on Bharat’s keeping.
