India faces West Indies in the second T20I in Guyana on Sunday, August 6. Former Indian batter Wasim Jaffer has warned the Indian team and especially the Indian bowlers to be aware of the explosive West Indian batting lineup in the second T20I.

West Indies have the likes of Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles, Nicholas Pooran, and skipper Rovman Powell all of who are power-hitters in the lineup. Pooran and Powell played decisive innings in the first T20I and set the platform for a West Indies win. All of these four batters can wreak havoc if they fire together.

In an interaction with ESPN Cricinfo, Jaffer said that West Indies understood the conditions well in the first T20I and that India needs to be wary of their explosive batters in the second T20I.

“I think West Indies know the conditions well because they play CPL. Their bowlers use the conditions very well. They have many explosive batters – Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Kyle Mayers, Rovman Powell. Indian team need to be wary and play good cricket to win the match,” Jaffer said On Cricinfo.

India lost the first T20I from a position where they needed 37 runs off the final five overs. India had seven batsmen and four bowlers in the lineup and they missed an all-rounder at number eight. Despite a late came of 12 from 7 balls by Arshdeep Singh, India fell short by four runs.

Wasim Jaffer Suggests Changes For India In 2nd T20I

“You want a batter or all-rounder at No.8. Available options are Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. If Axar comes at No. 8, you can afford to play only one among KulCha (Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal). Maybe, you might have to reduce one spinner as a forced change. There is a possibility of adding a batter and using Tilak Varma as an opener and bowler,” Jaffer concluded saying.

India needs to win the second T20I to level the five-match series.
