Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin lauded the young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan for making the most of his limited opportunities in international cricket. Ravichandran Ashwin emphasized that Kishan consistently performed well whenever he was included in the playing XI.

Ishan Kishan didn’t receive consistent opportunities despite his strong performances. The left-handed batter was dropped from the playing XI after scoring a double hundred in an ODI match against Bangladesh in December last year. He played a remarkable innings, scoring 210 runs off 131 balls.

Ishan Kishan Has Been A Wonderful Kid – Ravichandran Ashwin

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran Ashwin emphasized Ishan Kishan‘s performances across both white-ball and red-ball cricket.

“Whenever Ishan Kishan has gotten opportunities in the white-ball formats, he has used them really well. Even in the last Test match when he got an opportunity to bat higher up the order, he score a quick-fire half-century. Ishan Kishan has been a wonderful kid,” Ashwin said.

The 25-year-old made his Test debut during the first Test against the West Indies. The southpaw scored his maiden century in the second Test when he was promoted up the batting order. He registered three half-centuries in each of the matches in the recently concluded ODI series.

He Has A Great Attitude – Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out that Ishan Kishan takes the bats and gloves of other batters when he is not in the playing XI.

“If any player is playing, he will first take the gloves of the player and be ready. He will arrange their bats if they require a change at any point. He will make all the players feel comfortable around him,” he further stated.

“He will entertain all the players in the dressing room. He doesn’t have one negative energy in his body. He is the embodiment of positivity. He always has a smile on his face. He has a great attitude. I feel so happy whenever he makes use of the opportunities he gets,” he concluded.

Ishan Kishan is currently a member of the Indian team in the ongoing five-match T20I series. However, he has struggled to make an impact with the bat, scoring a total of 33 runs in the first two games.
