Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey praised Yashasvi Jaiswal for scoring a scintillating ton on his Test debut in Dominica. He is now India’s second-highest run-scorer on Test debut after Shikhar Dhawan’s 187 as he was dismissed for 171.

India won the match by an innings and 41 runs. Indis bowled out West Indies for 150 and 130 in the two innings taking 115 overs in total. The Men in Blue scored 421/5 in the first innings which proved to be more than enough for the visitors.

“I think the way he batted, it’s been fabulous. For a debutant to come in not on an easy wicket – it was obviously a slow wicket that got slower as the game progressed. Strokemaking wasn’t easy. If you look at the way he’s batted earlier, he’s the kind of a guy who likes to take on the game, likes to play his shots but the way he applied himself on that wicket was very good to see,” Mhambrey said in the post-match press conference.

The bowling coach further said that the Southpaw was able to adjust to the conditions and play his role for the team accordingly.

“I think that’s what you need at the international level, to be able to adapt yourself to different conditions and situations. More importantly, that was expected by the team and he did that role for the team. It was very heartening and positive to see and from the performances that he’s done, it should give him a lot of confidence going ahead” he further said on Jaiswal.
