Sunrisers Hyderabad, which released the least number of five players ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, also bought the least number of 3 players during the mini-auction. With Rs. 10.75 salary cap available for them, Sunrisers Hyderabad had the minimum budget along with Kolkata Knight Riders. Sunrisers Hyderabad only had 3 available slots in the squad ahead of the auction.
With most of their earlier players retained, Sunrisers went ahead to buy Kedar Jadhav for Rs. 2 crore. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman was Sunriser Hyderabad’s second purchase, which they bought for Rs. 1.5 crore. The David Warner-led team had only one spot available for an overseas player, and they went ahead with buying Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Jagadeesha Suchith was the third cricketer on which Hyderabad invested their money, buying the Indian bowler for Rs. 30 lakh.
In all, Sunrisers Hyderabad invested Rs. 3.8 crore out of their total budget, which is less than half of what Hyderabad had in the auction. Earlier, SRH released Billy Stanlake, Sandeep Bavanaka, Fabian Allen, Sanjay Yadav and Prithviraj Yarra from their squad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad won the IPL trophy in 2016, after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs in the final. Hyderabad has been a very strong team in IPL tournaments and has qualified for playoffs in the previous five editions.
