IPL 2025 schedule, start date finalised; tournament to start on..

The schedule for the Indian Premier League season is finally set to be announced soon. While the starting date for the tournament was already finalized on March 21, the whole schedule is yet to be announced.

The upcoming edition of IPL will be the 18th edition of the tournament and it promises to be a thrilling one. It will be played from March 21 to May 25 this year. The tournament will begin a few days after the completion of the Champions Trophy 2025.

IPL 2025 schedule to be announced soon

According to Cricbuzz, the wait is finally going to be over for the cricket enthusiasts and the fans as the IPL 2025 schedule will be either announced on February 7 or in the upcoming days.

Overall, ten teams will take part in the upcoming edition of as in the previous one. Those teams are Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions of having clinched the title last year by defeating Sunrisers Hyderbad in the final. KKR had a terrific tournament as they won their third title and became the third most successful team in the history of the tournament after CSK and MI.

Most successful teams

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League having won five titles each. While CSK last won the trophy in 2023 under MS Dhoni, MI's last title win came in 2020 under Rohit Sharma. Both are no longer the captains of their respective teams.

The last edition of Indian Premier League broke all the records in terms of runs scored and the upcoming season promises to be another high-scoring one. The impact player rule stays in the tournament despite the criticism from various international stars.

IPL 2025 to be played after WPL 2025 and Champions Trophy

The tournament will begin a few days after the conclusion of Women's Premier League 2025. The WPL 2025 will be played from February 14 to March 15. The tournament will be played across four cities, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Vadodara.

The WPL will coincide with the upcoming Champions Trophy which will be played from February 19 to March 9 in Pakistan and Dubai. The marquee ICC tournament will be played for the first time in eight years.

While all the teams will play its matches across three cities in Pakistan - Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Karachi, India will play all its matches in Dubai due to the hybrid model.

Pakistan are the defending champions having beaten India in the final the last time tournament was played in 2017. They will play the tournament opener against New Zealand in Karachi.
