The former Kiwi captain was unavailable for the initial matches due to his commentary commitments in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Kane Williamson is one of the notable players absent from the IPL 2025 season. The New Zealand batting star was selected by Karachi Kings in the PSL 10 draft. However, Williamson missed the team's opening match. The veteran batter will also be unavailable for the next four games of the T20 tournament.

According to a report by CricketPakistan.com, Kane Williamson is set to join Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League 2025 season very soon. The New Zealand batter is expected to arrive in Pakistan on April 23 or 24 and is likely to miss at least four more games.
"A source from the Kings’ management confirmed the right-hander’s expected arrival in Pakistan on April 23 or 24," the report read.
Karachi Kings have signed Pakistan U19 captain Saad Baig as a partial replacement. Baig made his debut with the squad during the Kings' match against Multan Sultans.
Kane Williamson Went Unsold at the IPL 2025 Mega-Auction
Kane Williamson had a successful career in IPL for ten seasons, from 2015 to 2024. However, he went unsold at the most recent mega-auction.
Williamson led SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) to the IPL 2018 final, where they lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The right-handed batter was exceptional with the bat in that season, securing the Orange Cap by scoring 735 runs in 17 matches at an average of 52.50, which included eight half-centuries.
After his time with SRH ended in 2022, Williamson moved on to represent Gujarat Titans for the following two IPL seasons.
