KKR Players List, Squad, Schedule, Match List for IPL 2024

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is one of the most influential teams in the Indian Premier League who have won two trophies so far. In IPL 2024, KKR will look to add another title to its name.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer was not part of the last season due to injury. However, he will be back in IPL 2024 to lead the side. Kolkata Knight Riders were led by Nitish Rana in the last season but could not come up with a good show.

The franchise finished in the 7th spot in the points table and failed to reach playoffs. The Nitish Rana & Co. played 14 matches. They won 6 matches and lost 8. With 12 points, they finished in the 7th spot in the points table.

Rinku Singh was the most successful batter for KKR last season. The right-handed batter slammed 474 runs in 14 games averaging 49+. Nitish Rana also showcased a magnificent performance by smacking 413 runs in the tournament. Venkatesh Iyer slammed a ton and 2 fifties to capture 404 runs in his kitty.

Among bowlers, Varun Chakravarthy was the leading wicket-taker for Kolkata Knight Riders with 20 wickets. Spinner Sunil Narine was next on the list with 11 scalps. Suyash Sharma was next in the queue with 10 scalps.

Kolkata Knight Riders have made many changes to their squad for IPL 2024. The franchise released 12 players from their squad. Some of the prominent names that KKR emitted from their squad were Litton Das, Lockie Ferguson, Shakib Al Hasan, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, and Tim Southee.

Kolkata Knight Riders bought 10 players during IPL 2024 auction. Their costliest player was Mitchell Starc for Rs. 24.75 crore. Interestingly, Starc also became the highest-paid player ever in an IPL auction. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was picked for Rs. 2 crore.

Sherfane Rutherford at Rs. 1.5 crore and Gus Atkinson for Rs. 1 crore were some other costly players that the team bidded for. Other players that KKR bought during the auction were Manish Pandey, KS Bharat, Chetan Sakariya, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ramandeep Singh, and Sakib Hussain.

After Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders is the most successful team in IPL history. The franchise won the titles in the 2012 and 2014 seasons. In the 2012 season, KKR crushed Chennai Super Kings in the final. In the 2014 season, they outplayed Punjab Kings in the climax match.

KKR also reached playoffs in five seasons- 2011, 2016, 2017, and 2018. However, they could not book a berth in the final in all these editions. In the 2021 season, KKR entered the final but lost to Chennai Super Kings and finished as runners-up. The franchise has railed under shadows in the last two seasons, where they failed to reach playoffs.

In IPL 2024, KKR will witness the return of skipper Shreyas Iyer. The franchise has also nominated Gautam Gambhir as the mentor of the team. Under Gambhir’s captaincy, KKR won the titles in the 2012 and 2014 seasons.

The schedule of the IPL 2024 auction is not out yet. BCCI will release the schedule in the next month or March. Due to general elections, BCCI is waiting to get election dates from the Indian government. After getting election dates, BCCI will finalize the dates of IPL 2024 so that matches don’t clash with election dates.
