The 55th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) is being played between the Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians (MI) and Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, May 6.

This is the second time these two teams are going head-to-head with each other in the ongoing edition of the competition. The first clash between the teams was an absolute high-scoring match where SRH emerged victorious by 31 runs on March 27.

Since that game, Sunrisers Hyderabad batters have continued their dominance in the tournament and their bowlers have been decent as well. The same can't be said about the 5-time champions Mumbai Indians as they have gone from bad to worse and are on the verge of getting eliminated from the playoffs race.

Currently, SRH sit at the 4th position on the IPL Points Table with 6 wins and 4 losses under their belt while MI take the 10th spot with 3 wins and 8 losses to their name.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are entering the match against Mumbai Indians on the back of an amazing win in a nail-biting contest against the Rajasthan Royals.

In the match against the Royals in Hyderabad, SRH finished their innings with a total of 201/3 on the board and when it came to defending it they were off to a flyer as they dismissed Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson in the first over itself. However, after that RR pulled back the game and almost sealed the deal before Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a sensational 20th over to steer SRH to a 1-run win.

Talking about Mumbai Indians' previous match, they were at the receiving end of an unexpected 24-run defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede Stadium. Bowling first, MI bowlers oozed their class and bundled out KKR for a low score of 169.

With the dew around in the second innings, it was expected that Mumbai Indians would easily complete the run-chase and beat the dominant Kolkata Knight Riders, but it didn't happen as MI batters displayed an extremely poor performance and got all out for 145 in 18.5 overs to lose the match by 24 runs.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. They made one change to the team by bringing in debutant Anshul Kambhoj for Gerald Coetzee. Speaking at the toss, Hardik Pandya said:

"We're going to bowl first. Wicket looks fresh. Might have something with the new ball, want to exploit that. Anshul Kambhoj makes his debut. It's all about playing for pride, play for the badge. And for fans who have been with us through thick and thin."

Pat Cummins further spoke to Harsha Bhogle and said that they have made one change to the team as Mayank Agarwal has returned to the XI and will bat at No.3. He said:

"Got Agarwal coming back to the side, will bat at three. Dew is a factor here, but we have been batting well. Got four games left, will probably need to win two of those. But we're not thinking that far ahead."
