Michael Vaughan Names One Mumbai Indians Player Who He Wishes Could Play For England

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has gone on to hail the Mumbai Indians’ repeatedly in recent times. With five IPL titles under their belt, Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise and head and shoulders above the rest. After choosing Rohit Sharma as the IPL skipper to play under, Michael Vaughan, in an interview with Crictracker, has named the player from the five-time champions’ outfit he would love to have in the England team.

Mumbai Indians have plenty of talented players, ranging from Rohit Sharma, Quinton De Kock, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, and several others. The aforementioned players have formed the bedrock of Mumbai’s team and been responsible for their dominance. All of them have not only scripted some of the most crushing victories for Mumbai but also some come-from-behind wins.

But Michael Vaughan chose Rohit Sharma to be part of England’s team across formats. The right-handed batsman has not only accumulated runs at will, but also led the team magnificently. The 2013 IPL edition saw Rohit Sharma’s rise as a captain when Ricky Ponting gave it up to make way for the 33-year old. Rohit has not looked back ever since, leading Mumbai Indians to their first title in 2013 and four more till 2020. He is also currently India’s vice-captain in white-ball cricket.

Rohit Sharma is also amongst the highest run-getters in IPL 2021, amassing 5480 runs in 207 games at 31.49, with one century and 39 fifties. But the Nagpur-born cricketer’s form has not been consistent since the last two seasons. Nevertheless, the Mumbai Indians’ skipper remains a gun player and one of the most dangerous batsmen.
