Former England captain Michael Vaughan has predicted the dominance of the Indian cricket team in the upcoming ICC events after they won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies. Team India created history by ending their T20 World Cup 2024 as an unbeaten side.

After India’s dominant display at the T20 World Cup 2024, Vaughan expressed his concern for the rest of the cricketing world, warning the world cricket to be ready to witness the Men in Blue securing back-to-back ICC trophy after clinching the coveted trophy after a decade.

Michael Vaughan worried for the rest of the world after India's T20 World Cup 2024 triumph

The cricket expert believes that India's formidable squad is capable of dominating upcoming ICC tournaments, saying there is nobody who can give a tough fight to the Men in Blue except for Australia, as other countries are going through a transition phase like England and New Zealand.

With the Champions Trophy 2025 scheduled to take place in Pakistan under similar conditions and the T20 World Cup in 2026 to be held in Sri Lanka and India, Vaughan said that India has the strength and versatility to repeat the latest success in these mega-events.

Michael Vaughan said on Club Prairie Fire Podcast: “My worry for, it's not a worry, really; it's just a concern for the rest of the world—is that now India has this one trophy that has been hard for them to win; it's taken 10 years. They have such a powerful squad. If you look at the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, similar conditions, the T20 World Cup in 26, Sri Lanka, and India, we know what's going to go on. So, they will be very powerful.”

Reflecting on India’s performances in the recent ICC events, Vaughan admitted that the Men in Blue have not yet won a World Test Championship final, but they have reached the last two finals and look strong to continue their strong form and dominance in the upcoming ICC events.

However, Vaughan mentioned Australia as a consistently powerful side, especially with players like Jake Fraser-McGurk coming through, but he observed that England and New Zealand are undergoing transitions.

He further added that teams like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka can’t pose significant threats to India's dominance in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

The Englishman continued, “I'm sure they'll make the next one. This group of Indian players, I think, could go on a bit of a roll. They could go on a real roll. I mean, you look at, you know, Australia has obviously got a powerful team. David Warner and Jake Fraser-Berserk will obviously come in.”

Vaughan signed off by saying, “So, they're going to continue to be powerful. I think England is going to go through a bit of a transitional period. New Zealand is clearly going to go through a transition. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka doesn't really need to mention them. Nobody can go close to this Indian side. They might have, and they should, by the way, with the talent that they have. They could have a few years of dominance with the Indian team.”
