Ahead of the semi-final, the Men in Blue are preparing hard to take on England on March 5 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They are also putting efforts into fielding drills. Apart from bowling or batting parts, the team needs to improve their fielding and catching skills, as they were among the sides that made a notable number of errors in the tournament.

In the Super 8 match against West Indies at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, which was another must-win game for the Men in Blue, there were multiple drop chances by the defending champions. Abhishek Sharma, Tilka Varma, and Varun Chakravarthy could have done better in the field against the West Indies.

According to a report shared by Sportstar, "India has dropped the most chances among all teams this World Cup — 13. The side’s catching efficiency of 71.7% is the worst among sides that made it to the Super Eight stage."

Even the players are well aware that a single missed catch can take them away from the title race. Ahead of the semi-finals, bowling coach Morne Morkel was asked about the team's fielding.

Morne Morkel, the bowling coach of the Indian national cricket team, stated that they are putting a lot of efforts in the training sessions. The players need to take responsibility on the field, as it is a matter of mindset as well.

"Nobody looks to drop a catch on purpose. It's not that we don't train, we put a lot of focus on it. At times its a mindset thing, I can't answer that. For us, it's about working hard on it. The players need to take on responsibility on the field", Morkel told the media in Mumbai.

We don't want to over-analyse- Morne Morkel

The former South Africa international, Morne Morkel, claims that they are not thinking too much about what they did in the past; they are working hard in training sessions, putting the entire focus on the upcoming match.

"We are working hard on fielding and asking the guys to step up. We don't want to over-analyse the history and matchups for this game", Morne Morkel said.

The India vs England, second Semifinal of the 2026 T20 World Cup will be held on the Wankhede Stadium, which is well known to most of the Indian players, and they have played many matches in the ground under the floodlights too. Against England, the Men in Blue will try their best to ensure a much-needed victory on the ground.
